"who writes history for whom, and why?"
In Big History we are researching about the beginning of the universe and this quarter we created podcasts about our opinion or stance on the topic. Our podcasts each question we will discuss. My group’s podcast question is “Can the big bang be disproved? Why or why not?”.
I am most proud of my Podcast script because our group really made it our own. We incorporated a lot of information, but we also made it funny and interesting at the same time. Our script was color coded so we could easily tell our lines apart and the intro, middle, and conclusion were clearly defined. The script we wrote incorporated characters we made up to make our podcast more engaging, and there is some humor/randomness, but every line has a purpose. I feel like our script was very well thought out and we did a good job of selecting appropriate/relevant information to share with the world.
I feel that this assignment connects to the essential question because it deals with the one event that historians and scientists speculate about, the origin of the universe. Our podcasts discuss different perspectives of how the universe began and attempts to explain it to a third grade audience. This delves deeper into the essential question because we are telling history to the younger generation so they will know a theory of how we think the universe was created.
I have shown the most growth in my ability to work with others so that everyone’s ideas are included. Working in a group has many perks, one of them being the many ideas a group can come up with. My group was full of great ideas and we worked together to fit them all in the script and make sure everyone’s voice was heard.
My biggest challenge was thinking about how to make our script both interesting and informative at the same time. I had to find a balance between funny, but still meeting the standards required for the assignment. My group and i did this by inventing characters to play in the podcast. They would each have a unique personality, but also be very knowledgeable.
